Mr Pole World Rules & Regulations

1. Definitions  
1.1 “Organiser” refers to the owner of Mr Pole Dance World competition organiser – Vanessa Brecht from Bobbi’s Pole Studio Sydney.

1.2 “Performer” is the name recorded on Application Form. 
1.3 “Competition” refers to Mr Pole Dance finals to be held in Sydney, Australia.  
1.4 “Document” refers to this entire document.  


2. Initial Selection Criteria  
2.1 The Performer must be male or male identifying. Individuals who exist outside of the binary are welcome to apply. 2.2 The Performer must be at least 18 years of age.  
2.3 Any Performers who have previously qualified for the professional / semi-professional division of Mr Pole World, or who have previously won the amateur division of Mr Pole World, must compete in the pro / semi pro division. 
2.4 The Organiser reserves the right to recommend a Performer compete in semi-professional / professional if their level surpasses the amateur level. 
2.5 The Performer may only submit application if:  
a) The registration form is completed in full accordance with these rules.  
b) A recent photo of the Performer is provided with the application. All photos are to be in electronic format; the Performer must include at least one high resolution photo of the Performer in a pole move.

c) The photo provided must have no copyright attached and the Organiser reserves the right to publish said photo for the purposes of promoting the Competition.  


3. Stipulations on Film & Photography  
3.1 All photography and other footage remain the property of the Organiser. The Performer has no rights to compensation for photography and other footage made before, during and after the Competition.
3.2 The Performer explicitly and irrevocably agrees that all footage and photography can be used by the Organiser for promotional, advertising and commercial purposes.
3.3 No photographs or footage are to be taken (by any person or group) during the Competition can be used by the Performer without express written permission from the Organiser.  

 

4. Performance  
4.1 The Performer is skilled in pole dancing.
4.2 The Performer may choose the music for their performance.
4.3 A performance in the Semi Pro/Professional Division is no longer than 4 minutes 30 seconds. 
A performance in the Amateur Division is no longer than 3 minutes 30 seconds.  
4.4 The Performer may join the audience before and after their show but may not converse with the judges during any part of the event.
4.5 The Performer may not perform nude or partially nude. It is permitted to remove articles of clothing / costume. 
4.6 The poles will be brass, 38mm. One will be static (stage right) and one will be spinning (stage left).  
4.7 Bare feet or any other footwear is allowed, including boots.
4.8 A Performer may use props. All props must be pre-approved by the Organiser in advance.
4.9 Human props are permitted, but they cannot touch the poles at any point and must purchase a ticket for entry. 


5. Judging Criteria  
5.1 The Performer will be judged on: 
a) Pole work (15 points). This is comprised of up to 5 points for technique/execution, up to 5 points for difficulty of tricks, and up to 5 points for originality.
b) Dance (10 points). This includes floorwork, transitions, musicality, and use of stage space.
c) Presentation (5 points). This includes costume and its match to the performance theme, overall presentation, performance theme, use of props, and use/removal of costume pieces.

d) Performance (5 points). Judges will look at the performers ‘x-factor’. Did the Performer have a captivating stage presence? Did they perform a ‘show’ from start to finish?  
5.2 In the event of a tie the judges will make a final decision.  
5.3 Any failure to abide by the above rules will result in immediate disqualification.  


6. Competition  
6.1 Performers must be available for photo shoots and/or interviews prior to the Competition, if requested.
6.2 The Organiser expects the prized winners to cooperate with the promotion of the Competition and activities. This may include pre, during, and post Competition media interviews and/or photography.  
6.3 Dressing rooms are for competitors and staff only. Family and friends of Performers are prohibited from entering the dressing rooms.  
6.4. Performers are not permitted to drink alcohol or take drugs on the day of or during the Competition.  


7. “Mr Pole Dance World” Title  
7.1 The title “Mr Pole Dance World” is an official title valid for one year commencing the date of the Competition.  
7.2. As “Mr Pole Dance World” the winner is an ambassador of pole dancing.
7.3. As “Mr Pole Dance World” the Performer is required to take on several promotional activities. This occurs in consultation with the Organiser and may or may not be financially remunerated. 
7.4 The Organiser reserves the right to retract the title if the Performer causes any damages to the Competition.  
7.5 In the case of retraction, the runner up becomes the new Mr Pole Dance Word title holder.


8. The Organiser  
8.1 The Organiser is not liable for injury or damage resulting from participation in the Competition, which includes any transportation to and from the Competition.
8.2 The Organiser reserves the right to change the rules contained herein.
8.3. All decisions not addressed in this document will be made by the Organiser.
8.4. Any decision by the Organiser is binding.
